Most ordinary forms of alpha-lipoic acid – tablets, capsules, powders and liquids come in the chemically synthesised form of S-Lipoic Acid (S-LA) which is stable and cheap to produce but its benefits are limited. Altrient uses the form naturally occurring in plants called R-lipoic acid (R-LA) which has exceptional health benefits due to its unique fat and water-soluble properties.

These allow it to work inside and outside of the cells, protecting virtually all body tissues against free radical damage. Whilst R-LA is proven to be far better absorbed than S-LA it is highly unstable and rapidly excreted.
