Sustainability by definition is the avoidance of depletion of our natural resources in order to maintain ecological balance, the ability to sustain. This means choosing products that have less of an environmental impact.
Sustainability
Sustainable values are what Acure was founded on, and they continue to drive how they make decisions as a brand. It is important that industries lead by example with sustainable practices, and that is why Acure has taken strides to reduce the impact their products make on the environment, from the formulas they create, to the packaging they use, and offsetting their carbon footprint.
Clean Formulas
Acure are proud to make products that are not only good for the skin but also for the planet. Their products are free from parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, formaldehyde, and petrolatum. They do not utilise any synthetic fragrances. Their formulas are all biodegradable.
Packaging
A large part of thier ongoing commitment to sustainability has been the transition of their packaging. Acure made a decision to phase out using virgin plastic a while back, instead opting for PCR (post consumer recycled) plastic. They also made the choice to use FSC (forest steward council) paper for all boxes and outer packaging. All of their packaging components are recyclable. They even decided to go a step further and transition to aluminum! However, the decision to choose aluminum was an easy one, as not only is it the most sustainable option (aluminum is infinitely recyclable), but it is also more hygienic, and lets the user get the most out of the product.
Reducing Their Carbon Footprint
One of our biggest goals for Acure was accomplished this in 2024. On Earth Day 2024 Acure announced that they are officially Climate Neutral Certified. What does that mean? Well they worked hard to deeply understand their environmental impact, find ways to reduce it, and actively repair the environment.
Future of Sustainability in Skincare
What’s next? Fortunately, the younger generations like Gen Z and Gen Alpha are motivated and demanding more from industries as consumers. They prioritise sustainability and shop their values, looking to support brands that also prioritise the health of the planet in their manufacturing process. This is great news, as it pushes brands to make conscious decisions when it comes to packaging and shipping, two of the most environmentally impactful aspects of the skincare industry.
